Suzanne Jutras, a 50-year-old helicopter pilot, is being remembered by friends and fellow aviation enthusiasts after she died in a helicopter crash in Quebec’s Montérégie region on September 26, 2026.
Jutras was one of four people killed when the helicopter came down in a field in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, a community southeast of Montreal. The aircraft caught fire following the crash, and all four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. Initial information indicated that the helicopter encountered difficulties after taking off. A subsequent update said the aircraft was turning back when it crashed.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident. Authorities have not yet released a final explanation for what caused the helicopter to go down.
The other three people who died were identified as Gabriel Jasmin, Chantal Raymond and Loucas Perreault. Reports indicated that the group had been taking a helicopter ride as part of a celebration for Raymond’s birthday.

Jutras was described by her friend Judy Frost as a passionate and highly professional pilot who loved being in the air. Frost said she had flown with Jutras on several occasions and had recently spoken with her about reaching approximately 500 hours of flight time.
Jutras also provided helicopter tours and was known to people involved with the Les Félixeries festival. Organizers said she had been their preferred pilot for the previous three years and shared condolences with her family, friends and everyone who knew her through aviation.
Tributes to the other victims have also begun to emerge. Family members remembered Raymond as an important presence in their lives, while tributes described Loucas as a young person whose life still held much promise. Jasmin was remembered as a devoted husband and father.
Investigation Continues
Investigators are examining the crash site and the available evidence as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
For those who knew Suzanne Jutras, however, the tragedy is also the loss of someone who had built her life around aviation. Friends remembered her professionalism, enthusiasm for flying and the joy she shared with others through her work as a pilot.
Funeral and memorial arrangements for Jutras have not been publicly provided in the available information.
