A major fire at a commercial building in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood brought a large response from firefighters Monday morning, September 28, 2026.
The blaze was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. at 72 Warren Street, where several businesses operate. What began as an initial multi-alarm response was later raised to five alarms as firefighters confronted heavy smoke and worsening conditions.
Firefighters Take Defensive Approach
Boston firefighters arrived at the Warren Street property after reports of a building fire and encountered significant smoke coming from the structure.
As the fire developed, additional resources were requested and the incident was upgraded to a five-alarm response.
Because of the conditions inside the commercial building, crews were working from outside rather than carrying out a standard interior attack. Firefighters continued efforts to bring the blaze under control as the emergency response remained active.
